Which, surprisingly, doesn't appear to have been done before.<\/p>\n<h2>Why Use the Instant Pot?<\/h2>\n<p>The wonderful part about the Instant Pot is that its 'pressure cook' function\u00a0<em>drastically<\/em> cuts down on cooking time.<\/p>\n<p>A typical tofu scramble requires about 20 to 25 minutes of pan cooking (plus preparation time), but we can shave that down to a speedy 10ish with the Instant Pot.<\/p>\n<p>Love it.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-32904\" src=\"https:\/\/www.blissfulbasil.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Easiest-Instant-Pot-Tofu-Scramble-0677.jpg\" alt=\"Easiest Instant Pot Tofu Scramble\" width=\"680\" height=\"1020\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.blissfulbasil.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Easiest-Instant-Pot-Tofu-Scramble-0677.jpg 680w, https:\/\/www.blissfulbasil.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Easiest-Instant-Pot-Tofu-Scramble-0677-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>The Trick<\/h2>\n<p>Admittedly, using the IP to make a tofu scramble turned out to be more challenging than anticipated, but a winner was revealed through persistence.<\/p>\n<p>The Instant Pot gets\u00a0<em>hot,\u00a0<\/em>so even a quick 3-minute pressure cook can lead to scorching and burning without enough liquid.<\/p>\n<p>And while I respect the Instant Pot's need for more liquid than stove top cooking methods, I didn't want to simply pressure boil the tofu in water. No, no. What flavor would that add?<\/p>\n<p>A few attempts in, and I was reminded of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blissfulbasil.com\/vegan-spicy-scrambled-tofu-breakfast-tacos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">this<\/a> tofu scramble which leans on a base of pur\u00e9ed tomatoes to create a flavorful broth for the tofu to simmer within.<\/p>\n<p>Since we're all relying a bit more heavily on easy, pantry friendly recipes these days, I swapped out the fresh Roma tomatoes in favor of canned crushed tomatoes. Once it's warm, add the the onion and the kale.<\/p>\n<p>You'll saut\u00e9 the veggies for just three minutes or so. You want them to just barely start softening\u2014the 'pressure cook' setting will take care of the rest.<\/p>\n<p>Once the veggies are firm-tender, stir in the crushed tomatoes and continue to cook for another minute or so.<\/p>\n<p>Then, crumble the tofu into the Instant Pot and add the spices.<\/p>\n<p>Alternatively, you can pre-crumble the tofu and measure out the spices before you start cooking or while the veggies are saut\u00e9ing.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-32889\" src=\"https:\/\/www.blissfulbasil.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Easiest-Instant-Pot-Tofu-Scramble-0644.jpg\" alt=\"Easiest Instant Pot Tofu Scramble\" width=\"680\" height=\"1020\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.blissfulbasil.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Easiest-Instant-Pot-Tofu-Scramble-0644.jpg 680w, https:\/\/www.blissfulbasil.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Easiest-Instant-Pot-Tofu-Scramble-0644-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once you've crumbled in the tofu, secure the lid of the Instant Pot and close the pressure valve.<\/p>\n<p>Set the Instant Pot to the 'pressure cook' setting and set the timer to three minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Once the IP has come to pressure and pressure cooked for three minutes, use the quick release valve to release the steam.<\/p>\n<p>Once all the steam has been released, open the Instant Pot.
