Today, I'm coming to you\u00a0with an open heart and large-winged, excitement-filled butterflies in my stomach. Equal parts\u00a0sheer joy, inspired determination,\u00a0and unguarded\u00a0vulnerability, all\u00a0of which are\u00a0thickly slathered with gratitude.<\/p>\n

I've kept this news a secret for so long that it's difficult to find the right words to share it, but I'm going to sprint down\u00a0the straightforward and simple path:\u00a0I am writing a cookbook!<\/strong><\/p>\n

That five-word declaration\u00a0embodies my dreams and aspirations as well as my oh-my-goodness-what-am-I-doing fears. Healthy, workable, and motivating fears, but fears nonetheless. It's been an 8-month journey to get from concept to proposal to signed-on-the-dotted-line book deal, and it feels amazing to finally be sharing the news with you<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

I'm absolutely honored to be working with BenBella Books<\/a>. Many of their publications, including\u00a0YumUniverse<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0The China Study<\/a>,\u00a0have been a huge inspiration to me. Additionally, they're innovative, supportive, and passionate, and I'm thankful for\u00a0the creative space they've offered me.<\/p>\n

The book, set to\u00a0be released in January of 2017, will include 100+ plant-based recipes with a focus on whole, straight-from-the-earth ingredients. The vast majority of recipes will be brand new with a tiny sprinkling of\u00a0favorites from the blog thrown in for good measure. Speaking of favorites, if you have a blog favorite that\u00a0you'd like to see in\u00a0bound-paper form, please let me know. I'd really love your input! One recipe that's already made the cut is this one<\/a>, but\u00a0to keep things fresh, I've devised a few\u00a0variations to nestle next to the original recipe.\u00a0Also,\u00a0if there are other recipes you'd love\u00a0to see fashioned\u00a0into whole foods, plant-based numbers, I'm all ears.<\/p>\n

I'm currently in the throes of recipe-testing, which involves taking the 140+ recipe concepts I've drafted specifically for the book and giving them a go in the kitchen. I've been able to chip away at testing on weeknights over the last three months, and every Sunday has been\u00a0dedicated to book recipes while Saturdays have been\u00a0reserved for the blog. One thing I articulated\u00a0at\u00a0the very start of the process was the importance of maintaining\u00a0the blog at the same rate I have been, which means three posts per week the majority of the time. This right here \u2014 these pixelated white pages\u00a0\u2014 is my home base.<\/p>\n

Now onto the decadently-dressed elephant in the room...<\/p>\n
